Owned by the Tennessee Historical Commission, the monument was commissioned by the Ladies’ Battlefield Association and sculpted by Giuseppe Moretti of Italy. It was originally located just off Franklin Pike on property donated by the Vaulx family heirs for a Battle of Nashville park, and had been dedicated on Armistice Day, 1927.
