HEATON ; Heaton was formerly a township in Leek parish and later a civil parish 2,689 a. (1,088 ha.) in area. (fn. 1) It is pasture, with a hamlet in the centre and Swythamley Hall in parkland in the northeast part. The northern boundary with Cheshire is formed by the river Dane.
